Have Trouble Getting To Sleep?

Do you have trouble getting to sleep at night? Maybe you are like me and don't want to get "hooked" on sleeping pills. Here you will discover that there are many natural ways to get the rest you need easier and faster naturally without the use of pills.

Let's take a look at some of those Home Remedies that you can use to help:

  • Chamomile tea- Boil a cup of water then steep 1 bag of chamomile tea for a few minutes; just add a little honey to sweeten. Chamomile has a good soothing flavor which is just perfect before bed. I love it because within 30 minutes of drinking it I begin to feel drowsy and fall right to sleep when I get to bed.

  • Valerian tea- Pour boiling water over 2 tsps of Valerian root for 15 minutes to infuse, or steep. Be sure to use an enamel or nonmetal pot when using herbs. This tea is known to calm nerves and promotes a good nights rest.

  • Warm milk- This is an old fashion remedy our grandmothers used, but still holds true. Grandmothers always know best! Drinking a warm glass of milk at night does help with insomnia.

Many natural herbs that are Top Sellers at Puritan's Pride! help with a restful night.

Now let's take a look at some things to avoid in order to get to sleep:

  • Alcohol or Caffeine- Don't drink any type of alcohol or anything with coffee within 2 hours of bedtime. They are both stimulants.

  • Long naps- Napping for 1 or more hours during the day can actually intervene with a good nights rest. A mid afternoon nap of 20-30 minutes is actually all a person needs to refresh their mind and body. You might think that's not much, but I know it works. Sometimes on Sunday afternoons I take a nap. If I nap for an hour I feel sluggish the rest of the day, but when I nap for only 20-30 minutes I may wake up thinking I want more, whereas once I get moving around I feel good.
