Painful Fever Blisters

by matt wade raney

thanks pineapple

thanks pineapple

Almost every time I eat pineapple I get a fever blister wich then turns into multiple blisters on my bottom lip and cracks of my mouth . I get them often since I was a child but citrus fruit really sets them off . I have tried every type of med you can think of but the only thing that works best is time . If you know of a secret please let me know.

Hi Matt,

The fever blister is a form of the herpes simplex virus, which is already in your system. Your body may already be too acidic which, therefore, mean citrus fruits can trigger fever blisters. Once you have a fever blister the acid in the fruit only aggrevates it.

When you first feel the tingle of one coming on, immediately apply an ice compress to it and keep it there as long as possible. Repeat this process as often as possible. This will deaden it, and therefore, keep it from growing.

If the ice wasn't applied soon enough and the blister does form squeeze the gel from an aloe vera plant and apply to the affected area often . The gel will dry up the blister within a couple of days.

Hopefully these will help! Please visit my Fever Blisters page for many more remedies.
