Hydrogen Peroxide… Simple Solutions

Did you know that you can use hydrogen peroxide to help fight off the flu and colds? Well, I didn’t until just recently, but I wasn’t too surprised. Why not? Because I know that it kills many, many germs.

There are so many uses that you will be pleasantly surprised as you continue to read.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a powerful oxidizer that kills bacteria, viruses, molds, mildews and fungi. It is great to use a disinfectant. Most people are aware that it can be used on cuts and scrapes to clean them out.

Did you know that you can use it to disinfect your bathroom or kitchen? It is much safer than chemicals and much more economical.

Now, let’s take a look at some home remedy solutions that Hydrogen Peroxide can be used for:

  • Put a few drops of peroxide in each ear to help relieve cold and flu symptoms. It will bubble and tingle a bit. You will be feeling better soon! Contrary to what we have known to believe, the Flu and colds are caught through the ear canal not through touch or by mouth.

  • Hydrogen Peroxide can be used as a fruit and vegetable wash to kill germs and bacteria. It also washes away any chemical that may have been used on them.

  • Mix 8 oz of peroxide with 1 gallon of water to use as a disease fighter on plants.

  • As a concentrate, it can be poured on weeds to get rid of them. Be careful though, you don’t want to kill anything else.

  • Mix hydrogen peroxide with salt, water, and baking soda to make a sinus solution. Use a syringe to squirt solution in nostrils for a complete sinus wash. This will help to prevent infections occurring.

  • Keep a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide and another bottle of white vinegar handy. Spraying them on your kitchen counters or in the bathroom will be more of an effective disinfectant than any other cleaner on the market. Together they kill virtually all salmonella and E-coli bacteria, even more than bleach! Be sure to not mix them together, just spray separately then wipe clean.

  • To remove a urine odor on tile or grout in the bathroom use a solution of laundry detergent or dishwashing detergent and peroxide. Scrub area thoroughly to remove odor!

  • You can use it as a mouthwash! After brushing, rinse mouth with a small amount of peroxide and be sure to gargle it, but don’t swallow! It kills the germs, leaves your mouth fresh and even helps to whiten you teeth. You may want to rinse with water afterwards to get the excess out.

  • If you get ulcers in your mouth you can swish the peroxide around the area to help the healing process.

So, as you have read, there are many uses for hydrogen peroxide. It will be well worth it to keep a few extra bottles around the house. I always keep a spray bottle full. It is an inexpensive home remedy that I don’t want to be without!
