The Many Uses Baking Soda
Baking soda is not only a safe cleaner and deodorizer, but has multiple uses. This is one product that we need to keep plenty of around the house
Let's take a look at some of the Home Remedies that baking soda can be used for:
In The Bathroom
- Use baking soda and water to safely clean and deodorize your tile showers. Also, the shower curtain can be cleaned and refreshed with it.
- It's a great scrub for the tub and sink as well. It will remove those nasty, grimey rings in a jiff! Be sure to rinse well.
- Sprinkle a 1/4 cup of the powder around the inside of your toilet bowl then scrub. It will be cleaner and fresher than using a harsh cleanser plus safer for your septic tank.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda down your drains (tub and sink)then pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar following with a gallon of hot water to clear your drains of any gunk. This works better than any chemical that you can buy at the store! Do this once a month and your drains will saty clear and unclogged with a fresher smell!
- To keep your waste baskets smelling fresher sprinkle a little in the bottom, under the liner.
- Baking soda sprinkled on your toothbrush that was dipped in peroxide is an effective toothpaste and breath freshener. Your teeth will become whiter, too, after regular use.
- For neutralizing odors and loosening food particles on oral appliances, such as retainers and dentures, soak in a bowl of 2 teaspoons soda with warm water.
- After a hard day at work soak your feet in warm water with 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Lean back and relax; soon you will feel mush better!
- Baking soda can be used as a safe antacid for a sour stomach or heartburn. Dissolve 2 teaspoons in 1 cup of warm water. Drink.
- For smooth skin mix a paste of 3 parts soda and 1 part water then gently scrub over skin. Rinse body thouroughly. This is a great exfoliate for your face.
- Adding a small amount of baking soda with your shampoo when washing hair will gently help remove the harsh products used on the hair. Your hair will be shiny and more manageable when styled.
In the Laundry Room
- Add a 1/2 cup of baking soda to you wash (it helps the ph balance)for a brighter cleaner wash.
- Sprinkle a 1/2 cup into the cat litter to help reduce smells and deodorize.
In The Kitchen
- Sprinkle baking soda in the coffee pot then scrub stains clean. Rinse thouroughly. Baking soda can be used to clean all plastic wear.
- It's a great cleaner for your sink. Just sprinkle around like any cleanser then scrub clean.
- For the dishwasher, sprinkle some in the bottom to help eliminate odors from the dishes plus, when it's time to add detergent to run the dishwasher you will have an extra boost of clean.
- Set a small opened box of baking soda in the refrigerator to help eliminate odors.
The Family Room
- Sprinkle baking soda all over the carpet before vacuuming to eliminate odors that linger in the carpet.
- Stains can be blotted up more easily by soaking up the liquid, sprinkle baking soda on it then allow to dry. This will help to remove the stain while eliminate the odors that it accompanies.
- Sprinkling baking soda on the upholstery then vacuuming will also help to eliminate odors around the room, too.
